Chad Muska

Muska was in town for the second 5 spot contest on Friday night... Well maybe he wasnt in town just for the contest but he did tear the Skydome bank to shreds regardless. In 30 minutes Mr. Muska got tailslide to fakie off the end, blunt slide off the end and blunt fakie back in to the bank. So at the end of the night the results were: Muska: 1st, Dallas: 2nd (Back Five front 180 out off the end) and Thad "The Weapon" 3rd (front crooks fakie back into the bank).

The 3rd 5 Spot Contest is coming up on Friday August 10th, hope to see you all out. Where ever it is going to be. 5 Flat? Maybe.....

Limited Edition "Climax"

Coming August 16th, our first guest artist deck will be released. The graphic is the collaborative work of Jon Todd and Harvey Chan, two great Toronto artists. This board will be available in a very small 40 board run, each hand numbered and manufactured in 7.75, 8.00 and 8.25 widths. There will be no reprint on these, so if your interested please check back here often to stay informed as to where they are going to drop.

A few weeks ago we spent the afternoon at Todon's studio, shooting photos to capture a detailed image of the original board that Jon and Harvey painted. Thanks again to Dave for all his time and knowledge in making this stage of the process so easy. Your the best Dave.

(Left to Right) Jon Todd, Jeff, Kyle and Dave Todon

Thats the camera Todon was using, it takes pictures at 49 mega pixels. The flash from the camera was going off at the same time I took this, which explains why it looks like the sun is exploding.

Need a new board?

We restocked a few shops this week, so if your in the market for a new Change deck get down to the shop in your hood before there gone.

Toronto:
Adrift (Kensington Market)
Hammer (The Beaches)
Junction (Dundas & Bloor)

Detroit: Metro Trend

Orangeville: Icarus

If your local shop does not carry Change, then send us an email and we will do the best that we can harassing the shop keep 24/7, to get you a new fun sword asap. Please be sure to include your location.

The Five Spot Best Trick Contest

Adrift Skate Shop in Toronto along with Supra and Krew present: "The 5 Spot Best Trick Contest". Basically, it is a best trick Jam at a different spot every 2 weeks, with cash prizes for the top 3 contenders. And the catch? You don't find out WHERE the spot is until the day of the contest... tricky.. The first 5 spot went down July 13th at Bickford with Dallas switch front noseblunting his way to grocery money. Thanks to Kyle for the link and of course to Justin at Centre and Lyndsey at Adrift for putting this together. Here are the upcoming dates for the remaining 4 spots. Hope to see you out.

Got a call from the West Coast

I heard from Hill yesterday, and he had just came back from a 5 day tour with Circa through Vancouver Island where he got to skate the Tofino Park and swim in the Ocean. Damn I am jealous. Here is a link featuring a couple photos, thanks to Brian Cassie for blogging this..
Apparently the tour is going to be in the new SBC, so keep your eyes peeled for some Hilliard sightings...

Nick Solcz Short Film

Our good friend Nick Solcz sent a link to a short film he shot a couple months ago, featuring none other than Change Super star and everyones favorite cereal eater: Jesse Tessier. If your familiar with Windsor, Ontario skate spots you will enjoy this

Fireworlks, Dancing and Cartwheels

Have you heard what the critics are saying about the first Change video, Fireworks, Dancing and Cartwheels? Read below...

"Seriously, the video is dropping August first?"
(Joe Maria of IOSS)

"You mean your not going to just put out another promo?"
(Wister Mcbouffer)

"You want me to finish editing the video by when? Phfff"
(Chris Quick, cinematographer and editor of "Fireworks, Dancing and Cartwheels"

Dallas, stop killing everything so Quick can stay home and focus"
(James Phillip)

James, you just made all this shit up eh? The critics? Who is going to review your shit? This isn't even a funny blog.
(James' of Lowenbrau is great , until you run out and get really pessimistic: fuck half full, this shit is empty"

Peep the promo

Go Skateboarding Everyday

Here is a great pic of Hill out in Van during the official "Go Skateboarding Day" shenanigans on June 21st.

From what Hill told me, the crew was rolling 500 deep, and money was being tossed out for tricks at each spot. "This pop shove got me ten bucks" (Hill). Skating and getting paid? Out west? Your on the right track Hilliard, keep pushing! Ahh, I miss Hill. Maybe one Friday night he will meet me at the Dundas park for a shralp sesh. Hill send more news!

Thats all for now.

P.S.

If your looking for a productive skate break this weekend, check out the Toronto Outdoor Art Show at Nathan Phillips Square (City Hall). Its a free event and it runs all weekend. Check the site for more info here

Canada Day Weekend

Hey all,
I hope you all had a good Canada day weekend!. To celebrate Canada's B-Day and our new News format, I went out with with camera and blogged the days events..

Everyone was happy to be out skating.

The sky was threatening to shit on us all day, but everything worked out...

Jesse, Dallas and Kyle were out in full force, it was a good crew today.

Unfortunately, security was not on holiday.. and they seemed to be lurking everywhere we went.

Quick, looking distressed over the looming video deadline, and security. (in the background)

Dallas got switch lip and switch barly grind within 2 minutes at this spot. Next time you see Dallas on the street ask him to do a switch 360 at mach 6.. seriously, throw him a dollar if you have too.

Mitch threw switch frontside flip down the five flat after a few tries. Mitch is so fun to watch, Happy Birthday Canada.

Dallas boardsliding the Skydome 13, warming up for? You will see soon..

Well thats it for Canada Day.
